Two Day Tour outside Bucharest: A Step in Transylvania

Day 1: - Bucharest - Cimpina - Sinaia

Leave Bucharest for Sinaia at 08:00. First stop of the day will be at Cimpina to visit 'Iulia Hasdeu' Castle. Arrival in Sinaia and visit the Peles Castle, one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe, former summer resident of the Romanian Kings. Visit Iulia Hasdeu Castle at Cimpina ; Arrival at Sinaia, visit of Peles Castle. Overnight in Brasov at Capitol (3*) hotel or similar.


Day 2: Brasov - Bran - Bucharest

Drive to Bran, where the waters hollowed their way in the rock stands Bran Castle, where Vlad the Impaler-Dracula spent some frightful times on this way to Transylvania. Leave Bran for Brasov, the largest mediaeval city in Transylvania. Visit the Bran Castle. Sightseeing tour of Brasov including the Main Square, the old City Hall, the Black Church, St. Nicolas Church. Evening arrival in Bucharest.

Sighisoara Tour: the 15th Century. Sighisoara, ancient cradle of Romanians, is located in Transylvania, in a landscape of peculiar beauty in the Tirnave Plateau.

Day 1: Bucharest - Prahova Valley - Sighisoara - Brasov

The heart of Sighisoara is the citadel around that developed along centuries the other districts. Here lived, between 1431-1435, Vlad Dracul (Vlad the Devil), future Prince of Wallachia, thus called because the German Emperor knighted him as Knight of the Dragon. He was Vlad the Impaler's father known as Dracula (the son of the Devil), who most probably born here in Sighisoara, on 1431.

The Catholic Inquisition found here a proper ground to manifest. Witch Trials took part almost in every big town of Transylvania. To introduce you in the 15th century atmosphere, 25 local amateurs actors will perform for you a genuine witch trial.

Intinerary:

Day 2: Brasov - Bran - Sinaia - Bucharest

Driving through the main roads you'll discover its beauty and picturesque, the combination between new and old, blacken stone buildings and red bricks chimneys above the coloured tile roofs, over the crenels and buttresses.

From Brasov a short drive to Bran, where the waters hollowed their way in the rock, stands Bran Castle, where Vlad the Impaler, Dracula spent some frightful times, on his way to Transylvania. Through a short cut, we arrive in Sinaia. At the end of the 19Th century, the future king of Romania, Carol I, enchanted by the beauty of the surroundings, built here Peles Castle, his summer residence and one of the nicest in Europe.

Outside Bucharest 3 Day Tour: Castles and Medieval Fortresses in Transylvania

Romanian Middle Age was a very tormented one. The Turks invaded Europe, conquering the Balkan Peninsula, and crossing the Danube they entered in Wallachia, a Romanian state North the Danube River. In the mountains it was easier to defend, that is why the fortresses and citadels were built at the foothill of Carpathian Mountains.

The only modern castle in your itinerary is Peles Castle, built at the end of 19th century by the future king of Romania, Carol I, as his summer residence. Bran fortress was built by master masons of Brasov, according to the privilege granted to the town on November 19th, 1377, by Louis I d'Anjou, who was ruling of Transylvania at that time. Since the beginning of its existence, the fortress was endowed with a garrison of 'archers and ballistars'.

Day 1: Bucharest - Curtea de Arges - Brasov

After breakfast, departure for Curtea de Arges. Visit the Arges Monastery ; Visit Poienari Citadel. Leave for Brasov. Overnight at 'Capitol' Hotel (3*) in Brasov

Day 2: Brasov - Sighisoara - Brasov

Visit of Bran Castle. Sightseeing of Sighisoara including the Clock Tower, the old town and the Covered Staircase. Optional lunch at 'Vlad Dracul' House. Day 2: Suceava - Arbore - Radauti - Marginea - Sucevita - Moldovita - Cimpulung Moldovenesc

Visit the monasteries of Arbore, Sucevita and Moldovita. Visit the black pottery workshop at Marginea. Overnight in Cimpulung Moldovenesc at Minion Chalet (2*) or similar.

Day 3: Cimpulung Moldovenesc - Voronet - Humor - Suceava

After breakfast, visit of the Museum of the Wood. Visits of Voronet and Humor Monasteries. Arrival in Suceava . Transfer to the rail station. Night train to Bucharest. Arrival in Bucharest. Transfer to the residence.
